With no new inductions into the Hall of Fame for 2021, everyone’s attention will now shift to the 2022 class.
Earlier this week, baseball fans were waiting to see if there’d be a new addition to the Hall of Fame, but that won’t be the case this year. Curt Schilling can cry all he wants, but nothing is going to change that.
So, we look forward to 2022 and there are several former star players who are now up for induction. At the top of this list when it comes to intrigue has got to be shortstop Alex Rodriguez. The question begs, will he get in this time next winter?
Fans are eager to see if Alex Rodriguez will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year
Rodriguez’s resume really jumps off the page. He’s fourth all-time in MLB history with his 696 homers and 2,086 RBI. He was selected to play in the All-Star game a mind-blowing 14 times, was named MVP three times and won two Golden Gloves.
Not only that, he finished his career with a .295 batting average and 3,115 hits. The man known as A-Rod made his debut with the Seattle Mariners in 1994, spending the first seven years of his playing days with the AL West team. He then signed with the Texas Rangers, playing in Arlington for three years before joining the Yankees in 2004. Rodriguez retired in 2016.
As great as he was at the plate, Rodriguez was also outstanding in the field. During his prime, he was no question one of the best infielders out there. Now, he’s hoping to get the call next year with the big news that he’s been elected into the Hall of Fame.
Keep in mind, Rodriguez also admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs during his career, which will undoubtedly be in the back of the minds of voters. Plenty of folks have argued that he doesn’t belong to get in, as he cheated his way to such epic numbers at the dish. Only time will tell if he’ll be forgiven or not.
