Some exciting news has rolled in for the San Francisco Giants, as the team reportedly has agreed to a two-year deal with reliever Jake McGee.

It goes without saying, but it’s been a rough recent stretch of campaigns for the San Francisco Giants. However, little by little, the team has been making some moves to try and get back on the winning road.

That includes bolstering the bullpen on Tuesday. Per a report from FanSided’s Robert Murray, San Francisco has won the free-agency battle and signed touted reliever Jake McGee to a two-year deal. McGee’s new contract with the NL West club is worth $7 million.

The Giants have won out and signed wanted relief pitcher Jake McGee

McGee just wrapped up his 11th season in the league, as he’s spent six seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays, four with the Colorado Rockies and this past year with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Of course, it was a memorable 2020 for McGee with LA, as the team went on to win the World Series.

Now, McGee will begin his 12th year in the bigs, doing so with the Giants. Throughout his career, McGee has posted a 28-23 record with a 3.59 ERA. Last season for the Dodgers, he went 3-1, with an impressive 2.66 ERA in 24 appearances.

This offseason, several teams showed interest in potentially signing McGee, but San Francisco appears to have presented the best offer to the veteran lefty. Now, we’ll wait and see if he can help make a difference for the Giants, with the team hoping to record its first winning season since 2016.
