Per a report, the New York Mets and Cleveland Indians are finalizing a monster trade that will send star shortstop Francisco Lindor to Queens. 

If you were waiting for some monster offseason baseball news, ESPN’s Jeff Passan has just delivered with an earth-shattering report. Per Passan, the New York Mets are finalizing a huge trade with the Cleveland Indians to acquire superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor.

For a while now, reports and rumors have swirled that Cleveland could be ready to send Lindor to a new team. The Mets had been among the teams interested in trying to land his services. Well, new team owner Steve Cohen’s first year in Flushing has started with a bang even before the first game of 2021.

Details of the trade are starting to be reported as well, with another big update coming in that shortstop Amed Rosario will be heading to Cleveland as part of the Mets’ trade package. In total, Lindor and Carlos Carrasco are joining the Mets, while Rosario, Andres Gimenez, Josh Wolf and Isaiah Greene are being sent to the Indians.

As much as it sting for Mets supporters to see Rosario leave the club, Lindor is one of the best infielders in the game. A four-time All-Star with Cleveland, he’s known for his big bat and outstanding work defensively.

Last season for Cleveland, Lindor hit eight homers and added 27 RBI during the shortened 60-game season. In 143 games in 2019, Lindor smashed 32 dingers. The year before, he went yard 38 times.

Now, the six-year veteran will look to keep up his fantastic production at Citi Field and in the NL East. This Lindor trade has most certainly sent a shockwave throughout Major League Baseball, with the Mets and Cohen showing already that they mean business for ’21 and beyond.
