St. Louis Cardinals closer Jordan Hicks found some insane velocity on his pitches to close out the Miami Marlins, including a ridiculous 103 MPH fastball.

There was no pressure on Jordan Hicks when he came into the game in the ninth inning for the Cardinals against the Marlins.

St. Louis held a 7-0 lead. They just needed Hicks to bring them home. He did a bit more than that.

Hicks was spitting heat on Wednesday night with 11 consecutive pitches topping out over 101.2 MPH on his final 12 throws.

One of those was a ridiculous 103 MPH fastball.

According to Cardinals Stats, four of his throws are now the hardest pitches of the young 2021 season.

He also whipped out an 89 MPH slider.

How about this 102 MPH sinker?

Yikes. Imagine trying to hit that.

Jordan Hicks is definitely back for the Cardinals

Hicks sat out the 2020 season because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. He has Type 1 diabetes.

The year off apparently was good for his arm, which is looking as feisty as it has ever been.

There was some concern Hicks wouldn’t be able to bring the same kind of heat when he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2019. Without seeing him in 2020, he was an unknown for St. Louis going into the 2021 season.

The question has been answered thoroughly. He still has plenty in his arm.

Hicks gave up a single and walked one batter on a wild pitch, but he also got a strikeout and closed out the inning with a lineout.

This was his second appearance of the year. He has yet to give up a run in three innings of work.

The Cardinals improved to 4-2 by completing their sweep of the Marlins. Next up, they will head home to face the Brewers.
