San Francisco Giant Kris Bryant makes his return to Wrigley Field for the first time since being traded on July 30, and his family handed out cookies to show their appreciation.

On April 27, 2015 third baseman Kris Bryant was called up to the Chicago Cubs. That day he made his debut at the infamous Wrigley Field and the rest is history, literally.

That same year, Bryant won National League Rookie of the Year. More importantly, he was the National League Most Valuable Player in 2016 after leading the Cubs to their first World Series title after an 108-year drought.

After spending seven seasons donning blue, Chicago traded the four-time All-Star to the Giants on July 30. It was a move that was inevitable at that point as Bryant was the last man standing, but still emotional as the Cubs sent the once-face of their franchise to the West Coast.

Bryant family shows their appreciation for Wrigley employees with cookies

It’s been 42 days since Bryant was traded. On Friday afternoon, Kris Bryant walked back onto Wrigley Field, but this time in a Giants uniform. As a token of appreciation for the past seven years, the Bryant family provided cookies for Wrigley Field employees.

The cookies weren’t the only thing that was stirring up emotions. Before the first pitch, Chicago played a video montage for Bryant as he stood in front of San Francisco’s dugout wiping away tears.

It’s safe to say that Bryant would’ve liked to be a Cub for life. Perhaps Chicago should’ve done more to be sure that he was.

At least there are the memories of 2016 to look back on.
