With the Boston Red Sox clinging to a lead against the Yankees, a bad call from Joe West opened the door for New York to take full advantage.

Boston Red Sox fans are furious with umpire Joe West right now. What else is new? In the series finale between Boston and New York on Sunday, West appeared to have opened the door for New York to take a late lead.

With two strikes on Aaron Judge, the slugger fouled a ball off right into Christian Vazquez’s glove. The ball ended up slipping out, but when Vazquez was trying to transfer it to his hand. Instead of Judge being called out, a foul was called and he hit a two-run double moments later to put the Yankees ahead 4-3. Unreal.

A controversial call turned out to be gold for Aaron Judge and the Yankees

Red Sox fans are furious all over Twitter. Not only did Judge hit his two-run double, but then things were made worse with Giancarlo Stanton following with a two-run homer.

For the series, Stanton has three dingers and 10 RBI. With New York sweeping Boston, the Yankees are now one game ahead of Boston in the AL Wild Card standings. Oh how things have shifted this weekend.
