Los Angeles Dodgers upgrade bullpen by trading for closer Craig Kimbrel

Immediately upon arrival, Kimbrel becomes the face of the Dodgers bullpen. He replaces the formerly long-tenured closer in Jansen. Though his MLB career has had its ups and downs since leaving Atlanta seven years ago, Kimbrel continued to put together a hall-of-fame career while he was with teams like the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs. The White Sox are a different story.

Historically, Dodger Stadium favors those that toe the rubber like Kimbrel. With a strong starting rotation ahead of him, Kimbrel could easily rack up another 30 saves or so in his contract here with the franchise. If he pitches up to his lofty expectations, the Boys in Blue can win their second World Series title in three seasons. Of course, the National League is absolutely loaded at the top.

Atlanta looms large over in the NL East. While the New York Mets could be a factor this year, the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals definitely will be in the NL Central. Though the arch rival San Francisco Giants could pull back, the San Diego Padres could return to 2020 form in the NL West. Regardless, the Dodgers seem to be on a collision course with the Braves in the NLCS.

Here is to the addition of Kimbrel adding even more fire to the scorching NL rivalry with Atlanta.
